Boon: building a platform for doing good

Boon is an early-stage, bootstrapped startup focused on helping companies and individuals build communities around charitable giving. Their goal is to support smaller charities that often don’t receive widespread attention.

I joined the Boon team as a design consultant in early 2025, having previously collaborated with the co-founder and resonating with their mission.

Goal

Build an intuitive, engaging platform that not only makes it easy for users to find and contribute to charities aligned with their interests, but also helps them see and quantify the impact of their good deeds.

Role

As a senior design consultant, I supported Boon’s Product Team with strategic feedback and direction. I helped clarify user flows, led quick ideation sessions, and contributed early concepts, while they refined the final designs for development.

Team Setup

I worked closely with the founder and the product design team through weekly feedback and working sessions.

Fast paced
design delivery

When I joined in early 2025, the team already had detailed wireframes in place. I started by giving feedback on the clarity of user flows, helping streamline the experience. Working closely with their designer, we focused on building the core screens and establishing reusable patterns. The process was fast-paced and iterative, with frequent hands-on sessions for ideation and quick decision-making.

Outcome

We delivered fast, keeping the solution intentionally simple and focused. The product is nearly implemented and ready for early use. Designed as an MVP, it  prioritizes real-world adoption, allowing companies to start using it quickly and helping Boon attract early users and potential funding.
